Biography

Galina SIDORENKO graduated from St. Petersburg Conservatoire under tutelage of Lyudmila Filatova in 1992. She had further training under Vladimir Ognovenko of the Mariinskii Opera and Maestro Ennio Vetuschi. Her awards include: Diploma of 1st International St.Moniuszhko Contest in Warsaw (Poland), Diploma of The National Russian Music Competition in Kazan (Russia). She is prizewinner of III International Competition "The Coast of Hope" in Albena (Bulgaria), finalist of Plasido Domingo's International Competition "Operalia" in San Juan (Puerto Rico). In 1992-1998 Galina Sidorenko took part in master-classes of Mitsuko Shirai and Hartmut Holl, Kurt Moll, Elena Obraszova. Upon graduation, she made her debut on the stage of Komi ASSR Opera and Ballet Theatre as Suzuki in "Madame Butterfly", followed by Olga in "Eugene Onegin", Lyubasha in "The Tsar's Bride" and Dorabella in "Cosi fan tutte" in the Rimsky-Korsakov Theatre of Opera and Ballet. She was also a soloist in the State Musical Chamber Theatre "St. Petersburg Opera" as Fidalma in "II Matrimonio Segreto" and Maddalena in "Rigoletto". In 1996, she made her debut on the stage of the Mariinskii Theatre as the Second Dame in "Die Zauberflote". Other roles included in her repertory are Cherubino in "Le Nozze di Figaro", Teresa in "La Sonnambula", Polina in "The Queen of Spades", Nicklausse in "Les Contes d'Hoffmann", Frika in "Das Rheingold" by Wagner and the title role of "Carmen" interpreted on different stages. Ms.Sidorenko took part in a staged version of "Parsifal" and "Boris Godunov" which was conducted by Valery Gergiev at the 5th International Festival of Arts "The Stars of the White Nights" in 1997. She also took part in the shooting of the film "Parsifal. The Search for the Grail" by Tony Palmer with Placido Domingo in the leading role. Galina Sidorenko took part in the stage version of the opera "War and Peace" by S.Prokofiev (conductor Gergiev, director Konchalovsky) in the part of adjutant to Marshal Murat, co-production between the Mariinskii Theatre and Metropolitain Opera. The premiere took place on the 11th of March 2000. Her chamber recitals have taken place in the best halls of Russia, Italy, Norway and Germany, which have included works by Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. She has been recorded for Radio and Television.
