Alexey Tikhomirov graduated from the Kazan State Conservatoire as an academic chorus conductor in 2003 and as a vocalist in 2006. In 2004–2006, he was a trainee at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Singing Centre. Since 2005, he has been a soloist of the Helicon Opera in Moscow. Since 2010, he has been a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre. Since 2015, he has been a soloist of the New Opera in Moscow.

Alexey Tikhomirov regularly performs in Russia and abroad. At the Mikhailovsky Theatre, the singer has performed Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Vodník in Rusalka, and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte.
